A 10:10 Company

UK AWARE is registered as a 10:10 Company, which means we're doing our bit to reduce our carbon footprint, specifically to reduce it by 10% in 2010.

One of the main things we have done is to give up our office and instead work from home, for which we converted our garden shed into a workspace using reclaimed insulation and plywood in order to make it habitable during the winter months.

Some of our other 10:10 endeveaours include:

• Storing scraps & left overs from lunch and eating them the next day.
• Keeping the heating as low as possible.
• Keeping lights turned off when they're not needed.
• Using energy saving bulbs & actually turning off appliances (like the TV) at the plug
• Having showers rather than baths.
• Go for walks round the local nature reserve, rather than go fun-shopping.
• Recycling everything we can.
• Reusing bags when we do go shopping.
• Having a meat-free-monday whenever we can (sometimes we do it on another day!)
