About Us
UK AWARE is a social enterprise with a conscience and a mission. We are not scientists, activists or radicals, just normal people wanting to help everyone to make a real and necessary difference.
We realise that to really fight climate change we need to make the right choices also the easiest ones. We want to help everyone to live and work more sustainably without needing to sacrifice lifestyle or comfort. The products and services which our exhibitors are showcasing help to do that.
Our events are long overdue, but they wouldn't have succeeded before now. Our aim is to stage events every few months across the UK to make them easy for as many people as possible to get to. Our next two events will take place in Manchester and in Edinburgh.
The UK AWARE founders come from event management and sales and marketing backgrounds. Although they have over twelve years experience in these industries, LONDON AWARE 08 will be their first independent venture together.
The UK AWARE team are a carefully chosen, enthusiastic bunch. We really believe in what we are doing, but we can't do it alone. Why don't you register your interest and we'll keep you in the loop with any developments and news.
As the founder of UK AWARE, I take comfort in my perception that I'm just an average Joe. I play football once a week, I love snowboarding, I never wear matching socks, I'm not keen on going to weddings, I should write to my granny more often, I come from a one parent family and I live in a three bed semi in west London. I am a regular guy who realises that we, 'normal' people/consumers are the ones who hold the key to fighting climate change. We need easy, green options which we can choose just as easily as conventional ones... if they are made available, then tell me which sane person wouldn't choose them?
